Description
The Product Designer will champion human-centered design, collaborating with product teams to create accessible, frictionless, and delightful digital experiences.

They will develop user research methodologies, translate data into actionable insights, and guide the product teams on human-centered design principles.

Working closely with product managers and stakeholders, they will ensure user experience is prioritized throughout the entire product lifecycle, participating in ideation and product roadmap planning sessions while contributing design expertise and user insights.

Additionally, this role will develop comprehensive design systems and human-centered usability testing methodologies, promoting accessible and inclusive design practices.

Ultimately, the Product Designer will play a critical role in the long-term success and adoption of IT solutions that meet the evolving needs of UCLA's community.

Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • Three years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: product design, product management or related field. (required)
  • Experience leveraging analytics tools to measure success, present opportunities, and support decisionmaking. (required)
  • Experience designing in adherence with design system guidelines and/or human interface guidelines. (required)
  • Experience working in a projectbased environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (required)
  • Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (required)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (preferred)
  • Five or more years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: product design, product management. (preferred)
  • Understanding of the product design and development process, and the relevant constraints for product design. Proven record of designing and delivering endtoend usercentered products. (required)
  • Ability to create informed, usercentered design by leveraging user research, market analysis, data, customer feedback, and technical constraints/ opportunities. (required)
  • Knowledge of Lean and/or Agile methodologies. Experience designing based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). (required)
  • Understanding of frontend web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, or other programming languages. (required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. (required)
  • Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (required)
  • Strong organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. (required)
  • Strong demonstrated problemsolving skills; scopes solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Able to ask questions, gather information, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity. (required)
  • Thinks creatively and proposes innovative ideas, including the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Is able to work with agility in a fastpaced environment. (required)

Special Conditions for Employment

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).


The anticipated pay range for this position is $135,740 - $157,071, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
