    Safran Aerospace Composites in Rochester, NH is dedicated to the production of 3D woven composite parts, made using the RTM (resin transfer molding) process.

    The first application of this technology is the production of blades and fan cases for the LEAP (registered trademark) engine, developed by CFM International, designed to power the next generation of single-aisle aircraft.

    This technology creates less noise and decreases fuel consumption for aircraft engines, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.     Position Summary:
    We're looking to add a motivated mechanical engineer to our Engineering Team.

    This position will provide critical support for all tooling and industrialization activities including, but not limited to, workstation design, machine and tooling validation, vendor and contractor selection, and the purchasing of tooling and equipment.

    The successful candidate enjoys hands-on work, has excellent attention to detail, is a problem solver, and shares a passion for the Aerospace industry.


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):
    *Lead and support industrialization of new production process methods by working with production teams and manufacturing engineering to collaborate on design strategies and provide input on development schedules.
    Design efficient production processes and workflows to ensure processes and products meet quality standards.
    *Design 3D mechanical assemblies and produce detail plans using GD&T functional tolerancing on the CAD software CATIA V5 (surface and volume).
    *Manage small and medium-scale mechanical development projects within Safran Aerospace Composites on serial production lines, and development and R&T activities, including possible projects on secondary operations (hydraulic systems, automated systems).
    *Receive tooling requests and plan their implementation according to Safran methodologies with the support and interaction of the various departments of Safran Aerospace Composites but also with the Safran Aircraft Engines teams.
    *Formalize the specifications for the tools and equipment of the new industrializations to be launched according to the needs of all the stakeholders (Production, Product, Quality, Engineering, etc.).
    Reduce waste and addresses production issues.
    Works with other departments to develop design and production standards.

    Design facility layout and personnel requirements in relation to production operations, machine station efficiency, and health and safety best practices.

    Develop statements of work for various projects and tooling needs.
    Participate in the training of operators.
    Be responsible for ergonomic improvements in all solutions.
    Build project schedules taking into account the priorities of stakeholders and the various potential unplanned activities.

    Integrate health, safety and the environment into the development of rework and repair activities and be a driving force in the declaration of risk situations and in the proposal of solutions.

    Propose and maintain tooling management process improvements.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Job Specifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant technical degree.
    Minimum of 5 years relatable experience in a manufacturing environment.
    Ability to create and interpret drawings and blueprints, and apply intermediate mathematical and geometry skills.

    Experience with CAD design:
    Catia V5 (preferred), Solidworks, Autodesk.
    Experience applying GD&T tolerancing with ASME Y14.5or ISO 2768 standards
    Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
    Strong mechanical skills and understanding preferred
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong competency in managing supplier interactions and presenting to management.

    Strong Microsoft Office skills:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
    Collaborative team player.
    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
    Ability to handle conflicting priorities
    Travel - Available for international travel (10% of the time).
