    Safran Aerospace Composites in Rochester, NH is dedicated to the production of 3D woven composite parts, made using the RTM (resin transfer molding) process.

    The first application of this technology is the production of blades and fan cases for the LEAP (registered trademark) engine, developed by CFM International, designed to power the next generation of single-aisle aircraft.

    This technology creates less noise and decreases fuel consumption for aircraft engines, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We do this with energy, passion, and curiosity, and we're backed by our rich heritage and culture of innovation. *CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE.

    Position Summary:
    We're looking to add a motivated mechanical engineer to our Engineering Team.

    This position will provide critical support for all tooling and industrialization activities including, but not limited to, workstation design, machine and tooling validation, vendor and contractor selection, and the purchasing of tooling and equipment.

    The successful candidate enjoys hands-on work, has excellent attention to detail, is a problem solver, and shares a passion for the Aerospace industry.


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):
    *Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and workstations according to Safran One Safran development and One Safran Manufacturing standards and Lean principles.
    *Lead development activities for a variety of layout modifications to assure they meet operational, safety, ergonomic, and engineering requirements, using a team-based, holistic approach.
    *Support value stream management with designs for WIP handling and storage, and design and/or measurement of other value stream parameters mandated by Safran One Safran Development.
    Work with Engineering and Production Teams to lead and support industrialization of new production process methods.

    Design 3D mechanical assemblies and produce detailed plans using GD&T functional tolerancing on the CAD software CATIA V5 (surface and volume).

    Receive tooling requests, and plan their implementation according to tooling management strategy.
    Develop statements of work for various projects and tooling needs.
    Build project schedules taking into account the priorities of stakeholders and the various potential unplanned activities.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Job Specifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant technical degree.
    Minimum of 5 years relatable experience in a manufacturing environment.
    Ability to create and interpret drawings and blueprints, and apply intermediate mathematical and geometry skills.

    Experience with CAD design:
    Catia V5, Solidworks, AutoCad (preferred).
    Experience applying GD&T tolerancing
    Strong mechanical skills and understanding preferred.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong competency in managing supplier interactions and presenting to management.

    Strong Microsoft Office skills:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
    Collaborative team player.
    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
    Ability to handle conflicting priorities
    Travel - Available for international travel (10% of the time).
