    Position Details:
    Full time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor.

    The Counseling program at Texas Christian University (TCU) invites applications for appointment as a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/ tenured Associate Professor of Counseling to begin in August 2024. The successful candidate will teach and advise students in the clinical mental health counseling specialization both at the master's and doctoral levels.     The successful candidate for this position will have strong potential for or a demonstrated track record of research excellence focused broadly on counselor development, multicultural counseling, and clinical mental health counseling outcomes. We are especially interested in scholars pursuing research impact in the following exemplar areas: community mental health partnerships, LGBTQI+ clients, trauma, and racialized communities of color, particularly Latinx youth and families. We expect the successful candidate will have potential for or a strong record of securing external grants to support their program of research, at the level necessary to ensure the impact of their work.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Responsibilities include teaching, research/scholarship, advising, professional development, and service commensurate with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will align all coursework to CACREP standards. The successful candidate will:
    ● Teach counseling masters and doctoral level courses, potentially including research, counseling diverse populations, abnormal behavior, assessment, legal and ethical issues, and/or other content as needed.
    ● Coordinate doctoral program and manage CACREP accreditation status
    ● Advise and mentor masters and doctoral level students, including serving on orals/comprehensive examination and dissertation committees.
    ● Maintain a robust line of research and publication,

    • Have the potential for or a strong record of securing external grants to support their program of research
    ● Collaborate with counseling faculty on student recruitment, assessment, and retention; program evaluation; and issues related to the community counseling clinic.
    ● Provide service to the college, university, and counseling-related professional organizations.

    Required Qualifications:
    ● Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program. ABD candidates will be considered but must complete degree requirements by appointment date.
    ● Eligible for LPC in Texas.
    ● Demonstrated ability to teach courses across the CACREP curriculum
    ● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, service, and/or research

    Preferred Qualifications:
    ● Experience teaching doctoral-level classes
    ● Three or more years of clinical experience in mental health or school counseling
    ● Experience with program coordination and CACREP accreditation process
    ● Supervision credentials (i.e., LPC-S in Texas, NBCC Approved Clinical Supervisor)
    ● Experience securing external funding and grant writing.
    ● Eligible for licensure as a Certified School Counselor (CSC) in Texas
    ● Scholarship and experience working with racialized communities of color, particularly Latinx youth, families, and communities.

    The Counseling program is grounded in a postmodern approach, emphasizing strengths and resiliencies rather than exploring pathology. This approach reflects our belief in the resources that clients bring to counseling. The Counseling program is housed in the Department of Counseling, Societal Change, and Inquiry. Programs in this department engage students looking to positively impact society in several ways, including addressing mental health through counseling, investigating the relationships between curriculum in schools and society, and working with youth in organizations connected to education.

    School/College Description:
    TCU's College of Education provides exceptional preparation for the most inspired and inspiring educators, counselors, leaders, and youth advocates. The college offers both B.S. and B.S.E. degrees at the undergraduate level, as well as five master's programs and five doctoral programs, many of which are nationally recognized. Programs include eighteen content area pathways to teacher certification in K-12 education along with programs and/or concentrations in youth advocacy, curriculum and instruction, curriculum studies, counseling and counselor education, educational leadership, higher education leadership, science education, mathematics education, language and literacy education, and special education. TCU is the only university in the nation with two on-campus laboratory schools, Starpoint and KinderFrogs, for children with learning differences. Students have the opportunity to engage in real-world experiences with our centers, institutes, programs, and community partners.
