The **Director of R&D** at Aspire Bakeries plays a pivotal role in optimizing manufacturing processes and creating new food concepts. Focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and product quality, this position specializes in Artisan Bread, Frozen Dough, and Laminates. Collaborating closely with customers and internal teams, the Director drives product innovation from development to commercialization under the guidance of the VP of R&D.
**Responsibilities:**
- Review and update process documentation and SOPs to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
- Identify areas for quality and efficiency improvement.
- Propose process enhancements for immediate and long-term benefits.
- Train production associates on best practices.
- Foster relationships with key customers to drive new product growth.
- Conduct Product Ideation sessions based on company capabilities.
- Stay informed about market trends and new ingredients through various channels.
- Ensure smooth transitions from concept to manufacturing and maintain product quality.
- Resolve problems efficiently and demonstrate expertise in bakery equipment use.
- Collaborate with project managers and adhere to industry guidelines and best practices.
- Pursue continuous training and share knowledge with others.
**Qualifications:**
- Extensive experience and passion for Bakery Innovation.
- Minimum of 10 years in industrial food development.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Additional culinary education is a plus.
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written); Spanish proficiency is beneficial.
**Skills:**
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Familiarity with SAP, Genesis, and related platforms.
- Domestic travel required (up to 30%) with occasional international travel.
