- Identifies and recommends suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability for existing components
- Provide support to Marketing/R&D/Finance/Service/Quality in all stages of new product development by researching materials identified by Product Development/Engineering and suggesting new materials as located through sourcing processes
- Coordinate with Engineering to research new materials and vendors for cost-effectiveness or to achieve a new product design. Coordinate and participate in supplier meetings
- Assist with bid evaluations, cost analyses, price justification, and risk assessment of suppliers
- Identify historic part disruption issues including lead time, business health, quality, and continuing rising costs
- Work to find additional suppliers for these parts starting with the biggest concern areas first that can be used as alternate or backup suppliers
- Identify parts and assist with bid evaluations, cost analysis, and sampling to confirm the viability of alternate suppliers
- While working on new products, ensure multiple vendors are identified as possible suppliers and included on item cards to ensure backups are identified in the beginning
- Monitor incoming freight costs, especially with container/overseas shipments
- Evaluate processes associated with Inventory including PRO Parts and Parts changes to ensure processes are followed and inventory is correctly moved
- Work on slow-moving inventory teams to evaluate purchased parts that arent moving and products that should be discontinued or redesigned to include more common parts
- Review reorder points and order quantities in the system to ensure these are modified based on recent order trends and vendor lead times
- Spearhead the effort to correct vendor lead times in the systems to ensure information accuracy
- Additional projects as needed to assist Purchasing and Operations
- Purchasing or Sourcing experience required (3+ years)
- MRP software experience
- BOM structure knowledge
- Ability to negotiate pricing

Description
The Resource is hiring a Sourcing Specialist for our client, a furniture manufacturer, located in High Point, NC. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity that offers a salary range of $50,000-$65,000 per year depending on experience. The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for finding new vendors for equipment, parts, services, and materials, and checking availability for existing components. Ideal candidates for this role should have purchasing or sourcing experience and have the ability to negotiate pricing.
