Duties:


Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Provides high level advice and policy recommendations to the Chief of Staff on a wide variety of programs, issues, and initiatives requiring the Director or Deputy Director of Defense Intelligence attention or decision.
  • Prepare a variety of briefings, reports, information papers, decision papers, and other materials.
  • Assist with research, development, and organization of programs and projects as assigned
  • Follows polices and procedures, recommends appropriate personnel actions for staff (i.e., promotions, cash and timeoff awards).
  • Performs as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and budget analyst providing expertise.
  • Provides expert knowledge and experience coordinating actions across the Intelligence Community, Combat Support Agencies, Military Services, the Joint Staff, and Office of the Secretary of Defense staffs.

  • Selectee might be required to successfully complete a twoyear trial period.
  • This position requires to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A Special Background Investigation (SBI) is required with favorable adjudication by a determining authority.
  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) travel both CONUS and OCONUS.

Qualifications:


The DCIPS occupational structure provides the foundation for managing the DCIPS pay structure.

It consists of the following elements:

mission categories, occupational groups, and work categories, work levels, pay band (for those DCIPS Components operating under the DCIPS pay banded structure using pay plan IA) and grades (for those DCIPS Components operating under the GG graded structure using pay plan GG), job titles, and competencies.

You may qualify at the GG-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to 1)Prepare a variety of briefings, reports, information, decision papers and other materials; 2)recommends appropriate personnel actions for staff (i.e.

promotions, cash and time off awards; 3)Identify potential issues and make appropriate contacts to secure information needed for action and decisions. 4) Evaluates proposals and participates in negotiation of changes, modifications, and claims of contracts. 5)Drafts and submits all documents required for contract competition and re-competition. 6) Provide expert knowledge and experience coordinating actions across the Intelligence Community, Combat Support Agencies, Military Services, the Joint Staff, and Office of Secretary of Defense staffs to perform varied tasks associated with coordinating input, tracking status, reporting on issues, and developing recommendations/solutions to assist senior decision-making.

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
    Current or Former Political Appointees:Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or nonpolitical excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code. If you are currently or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, or Noncareer SES employee in the executive branch, you MUST disclose that to the Human Resources Office.
