    Job Description:

    Undergraduate Research Assistants working with Dr. Stofer support research in public engagement with science, studying scientists, teachers, and members of the community, especially in the context of agriculture and natural resources. If you are interested in helping design public educational programs and understanding how they work, this job is for you. No previous research experience is necessary. Employees may work on a single project or support multiple projects as interest, experience, and need dictate.

    The position may be renewable for multiple semesters.

    Job Duties may include:

    • Performing literature searches and summaries of existing research
    • Organizing physical research documents including participant consent forms
    • Creating recruitment fliers for research studies
    • Creating and editing Institutional Review board protocols related to research studies
    • Emailing potential participants, posting physical and digital study recruitment fliers
    • Scheduling meetings and research sessions
    • Creating online surveys or interview guides
    • Conducting interviews or focus groups
    • Analyzing research data, quantitative/statistical and or qualitative
    • Writing research papers
    • Writing practitioner-focused documents on research findings (See Stofer's examples )
    • Collaborating with other undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty at research meetings
    • Presenting research findings
    • Writing research summaries for public audiences
    • Other research related activities to support ongoing projects


    Expected Salary:

    $13.00 per hour



    Minimum Requirements:
    • Must receive or be eligible to receive Federal Work Study
    • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the University of Florida
    • Willingness to make a commitment of 10 hours a week.

    • Detail oriented
    • Capable of working and multi-tasking independently
    • Ability to create and maintain structure for open-ended projects
    • Punctual and reliable
    • Experience working in an office environment
    • Ability to maintain professional relationships
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Computer skills, Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Previous research experience
