    Middle School Principal


    Overview:
    Seeking an experienced school leader passionate about collaborative and empowering arts-integrated social justice educational practices.


    Arts in Action Community Middle School opened in Fall 2016 and was approved for a second five-year renewal for extended to Arts in Action strives to provide culturally responsive educational opportunities with hands-on and dynamic arts-integrated lessons taught through the lens of social justice in an inclusive and affirming school setting.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:
    The principal will be responsible for promoting the school's mission and vision through all aspects of the school's operations, including:
    Overseeing a master schedule and ensuring compliance with instructional minutes
    Developing school-wide operational, academic, and behavioral systems and procedures
    Leading school culture student and family events and initiatives & social justice activities
    Overseeing the Turnaround Arts program and implementing the strategic arts integration plan
    Building a strong academic program through strategic planning, developing best teaching practices, researching and procuring curriculum
    Ensuring compliance with Summative Grades & Assessments (including CAASPP, CAST, ELPAC, Writing Exams, benchmark assessments, grade books, and report cards)
    Ensuring the school policies outlined in the family handbook are implemented to fidelity
    Hiring, managing, and evaluating instructional and classified staff and enforcing the policies set forth in the staff handbook
    Developing and procuring professional development and training for all school staff
    Facilitating teacher committee and leadership opportunities
    Leading school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Justice initiatives
    Building external partnerships including relationships with Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles Unified School District, the California Department of Education
    Helping to lead parent engagement initiatives including monthly principal meetings, collaborating with the United Parent Committee, leading School Site Council, facilitating the English Language Advisory Committee, procuring and/or facilitating parent workshops and trainings
    Helping to oversee compliance data collection (P-1 reports, CALPADS, etc.) and reporting
    Overseeing school site budget, including reviewing weekly accounts payable, credit card ledgers, and budget vs. actuals
    Overseeing the procurement of instructional materials and school supplies


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    8 years of combined managerial, administrative, and teaching experience.
    Prior school leadership experience.
    Strong managerial track record, superior interpersonal skills (communication, problem-solving, conflict

    resolution), experience in school leadership roles, dedication to the school's mission, a thorough

    understanding of how to implement the school's instructional approach, and a strong love for all children.
    Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.


    WAGE AND BENEFITS:
    The salary for this job ($122,000-$190,724) is competitive and commensurate with experience; a competitive benefits package is included.
