Position Description:

The Principal is an educational leader that will foster high levels of academic achievement in their community school site. The Principal will deliver student results in line with agreed upon goals set by ICEF Public Schools.


Reporting:

This position reports to the Chief Academic Officer (CAO).


FLSA Status:
Exempt


Pay Cycle:12 months


Salary:
$105,000-$145,000

Essential Functions:


_ TEAM LEADERSHIP 20%_:


  • Serves as the lead administrator and instructional leader of the school, direct and supervise the instructional, discipline, culture, and special education programs
  • Hires and develops highly competent people in all key roles and is able to entrust them with maximum responsibility.
  • Leads the collaboration with all stakeholders on identifying goals for student achievement; assess progress towards meeting goals; collaboratively develop the school's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and measure the outcome of goals
  • Provides leadership in the area of curriculum, instruction and modifications/accommodations for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Ensures that the entire staff (certificated and classified) is current on professional literature and constantly exploring and implementing best practices.
  • Evaluates the performance of teachers and other school employees and coach them on their individual development
  • Plans and implements quality professional development through the mentoring/coaching of teachers and staff
  • Employs and oversees a strategic plan to ensure all key teams meet regularly and take responsibility for productive agenda outcomes
  • Responsible for planning the master schedule of classes for students and for assigning members of the certificated staff to appropriate course
  • Works closely with the HR Department to help resolve any conflict resolutions between staff that may legally impact ICEF

_ STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND DATA ANALYSIS 15%_:

  • Regularly monitors instruction to ensure the daily implementation of research-based best practices for teaching and learning
  • Leads a datadriven school culture that includes the regular use of data by teachers, students and staff.
  • Continuously monitors, tracks and analyzes student achievement data in order to identify needed supports and strategies
  • Implements and oversees effective, high quality data analysis cycles with teachers/teacher teams to facilitate the analysis of data provided by ICEF Common Assessments, unit assessments, and formative assessments.
  • Implements Response To Intervention (RTI) strategies and structures for students based on student achievement data
  • Accountable for students' overall academic performance

_ LEARNING ENVIRONMENT 15%_:


  • Establishes and fosters a positive, open and safe school culture for both students and staff
  • Implements and leads a robust Multi-Tiered Support System that provides timely academic and behavioral support to students with identified needs (i.e., RTI, SST, SPED).
  • Crafts student discipline policies to meet unique student population needs (ex. restorative practices, Positive Behavior Intervention & Support
  • PBIS, etc.)
  • Maintains professional standards and a school environment that is productive, safe and focused
  • Implements a system for sustaining attendance improvement efforts by establishing an attendance team, implementing a tiered system of supports, ensuring buyin from stakeholders and decreasing overall chronic absenteeism rates.

_ FAMILY & COMMUNITY RELATIONS 15%_:

  • Solicits input from and communicates regularly with all parents and families in ways that are accessible and understandable
  • Available for contact with parents, students and staff to discuss student progress and problems after class, at night or on weekends (via cell phone or in person)
  • Makes families feel welcome and respected, respond to concerns, and ensure a number of them are actively involved in the school community
  • Works closely with parents and the community partners to promote the mission and vision of the school.
  • Initiates and implement community support and advisory groups
  • Participates in events aimed at promoting or developing our organization and schools (e.g., student recruitment)

_ SCHOOL RESOURCES 10%_:


  • Directs financial and human resources at the school site
  • Skillfully manages school budgetary planning (e.g. LCAP) and business operations to maximize student achievement and staff growth.

_ PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 10%_:


  • Models how to build strong, mutually respectful, relationships with students and families, and supports teachers and staff to do the same.
  • Maintains work hours extending beyond school hours for other professional duties or functions such as staff meetings, school events, Saturday school, Parent Information Meetings, etc. when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
