We are a leading private renewable energy company focused on acquiring and operating hydropower and developing community-scale solar projects.

We believe hydropower and solar are key sustainable resources that play a critical and growing role in meeting demand for clean energy and a low-carbon economy.

We own and operate 85 hydropower plants in 18 states with a combined capacity of more than 690 megawatts, and have begun construction on a portfolio of solar projects that will add to that generation.


Role
The role has two key focus areas: Energy Asset Management and Commercial Projects.

In this role, you will make daily decisions about scheduling water releases from a set of reservoirs to optimize the revenue from a system of hydropower facilities.

You will also support and/or lead internal commercial projects working with long-term Power Purchase Agreements, optimization initiatives within the portfolio, and the company's participation in energy market design.

This role will be located in Bethesda, MD.


Responsibilities - Energy Markets

  • Provide daily offers and schedules for hydroelectric facilities into organized ISO/RTO power markets.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO/RTO market monthly/quarterly/annual requirements.
  • Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder processes and provide market intelligence updates to senior management.
  • Maintain relationships with counterparties, including offtakers, and fulfill regular reporting requirements.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance of portfolio facilities and prepare associated reports.

Responsibilities - Commercial Projects

  • Perform financial analysis to support operational and investment decisions and present recommendations to senior management/executives.
  • Working alongside other members of the team, source and negotiate power purchase agreements and other offtake contracts.
  • Conduct diligence and lead teams, including external contractors, to execute on optimization initiatives
  • Help evaluate and screen acquisition opportunities in North America.
  • Assist with integration of new regional acquisitions into the Company's operating platform

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or other relevant field plus two years of experience in financial modeling and power markets, or relevant Master's degree.
  • Two years of experience with organized ISO/RTO power markets
  • Previous asset management and/or energy tradingexperience.
  • Experience managing data sets and building models in Excel.
  • Keen ability to distill complex issues and synthesize data for presentation to senior management.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and complete timesensitive work.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy industry regulatory environment.
  • Experience with flexible power generation resources (gasfired, hydropower, energy storage).
