Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods in metals processing and distribution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
On a limited basis, supervises staff and ensures appropriate training, understanding of systems, proper performance of duties and resolution of issues and inquiries as needed.
Assists with overseeing and coordinating day to day operations for a functional area that may include multiple departments or areas within the organization.
Assists in the hiring process and/or makes recommendations.
Ensures that staff are fully trained for the job they are performing.
Motivates, mentors, trains, and develops staff.
Prepares and conducts constructive and timely performance feedback for staff development.
Provides coaching and counsels staff when required.
Additionally, as a senior subject matter expert, responsible for independently completing a broad range of production tasks and/or planning or leading tasks and/or other staff in the accomplishment of work.
Measures and examines pieces using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, verniers, and squares to ensure conformance to specifications.
Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality Inspections
Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
May mark identification on material/work pieces before processing.
May mark material after processing and store material for additional processing and/or shipping.
Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
