- Advise the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Congressional affairs and strategic engagement.
- Build and maintain relationships with Congressional staffs, the Joint Staff, and interagency personnel.
- Prepare testimony and responses to questions in coordination with relevant offices.
- Identify opportunities to accelerate capability fielding and prepare Congressional engagement strategies.
- Conduct comprehensive issue analyses and anticipate potential policy and budgetary problems.
- Maintain awareness of areas of Congressional interest.
- Provide guidance to staff on procedures for handling information for Members of Congress.
- Coordinate legislative visits and develop strategic engagement plans.

Job Title: Congressional Affairs Specialist

Summary:
This position is part of the organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for advising the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (VCJCS) on Congressional affairs and strategic engagement.
Responsibilities:
Experience:
Experience with the appropriations process is highly desired but not required. Candidates must have a comprehensive understanding of the legislative process and major national policy issues.
Qualifications:
Candidates may qualify at the GS-15 level with specialized experience in legislative matters and Congressional liaison activities.
