Project Overview:

Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world's largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work weekends as needed.

The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.

Position Summary:

Assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory capacity. Responsible for supervising and directing operations related to all work face access/egress requiring work decks, stair towers, loading platforms, scaffolding, aerial lifts, for the HLW project. Proficient in the use of the project model, synchro pro, and project schedule for scaffolding procurement, inventory, asset management, accurate planning and forecasting. Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area. Safely directs assigned construction work in accordance with Bechtel's safety program.
• Determines manual staffing requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft. Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.
• Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
• Approves craft time records using established automated tools.
• Prepares schedules, construction methods and procedures.
• Supervises and directs subordinate personnel and craftsmen in construction activities within assigned area.
• Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
• Monitors tool usage on the site. Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
• Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
• Responsible for the implementation of corporate/ project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
• Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas, and clients' resident representatives as instructed by construction management.
• Performs employee reviews and identifies Training and Development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
• Assesses needs and identifies craft training requirements.
• Monitor job site work rule compliance.
• Ensures that all Bechtel, State and Federal safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility.
• Responsible for scope, schedule, budget planning and execution.

Qualification and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Civil Engineering or Construction related discipline AND at least 9 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree at least 15 years direct experience with an emphasis on civil construction/scaffolding.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
• Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
• Basic Field Manual and/or Non Manual supervision experience with a strong civil/scaffold background.
• Knowledge of Safeway Brand Scaffold materials and guides.
• Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
• Working knowledge of unionized labor.
• Demonstrated leadership in a team based environment.
• Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and technical database applications.
• Prior experience with scaffold data management systems.
• Knowledge and application of OSHA Scaffolding.
• Prior experience erecting, modifying, and dismantling scaffolds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of local labor laws and issues.
• Knowledge of state, federal, and local contracting requirements.
• Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors.
• Specific experience in Heavy Civil Construction - Scaffolding
• WTP experience.
• Knowledge of Bechtel's Zero Accident Safety Program.
