    What is this career opportunity?

    The Construction and Facility Management Office (CFMO) is looking for an organized professional with exceptional communication ability and solid design and construction project management knowledge to join their team. Your supervisor would be a construction manager and your coworkers would be comprised of one architect, two mechanical engineers, two design and construction managers and an engineering contract specialist. You would also work closely with the other five bureaus within the CFMO. The mission of the CFMO Design & Project Management is to support Soldiers and families of the Montana Army National Guard (MTARNG) by constructing quality operational facilities to promote readiness, so they may continue to preserve and protect the priceless treasure of freedom. This position provides design and construction phase management of projects for the MTARNG throughout Montana. Projects range from remodels to deferred maintenance to firing range training facilities to new building construction. You would facilitate collaboration, meetings and communications with various stakeholders including the end users and architect/engineer consultants to generate cost effective solutions to fit our Soldier's needs. You would be responsible for guiding projects from inception, space planning, programing, cost estimating, construction documents, bidding and construction management through final acceptance.

    What are we looking for?

    Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture and three years of experience in Project Management with exposure to construction documents and construction methods. A licensed Architect or Engineer or in the process of becoming professionally licensed. Though a license is desirable it is not a requirement of the position. Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Competencies:

    Knowledge of:

  • The principles and practices of the architectural and civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering fields. Project administration, contract administration and construction administration principles
  • Ability to: Deliver professional customer service Use interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy

  • Manage multiple projects and maintain focus on priorities
  • Collaborate with others to reach mutually beneficial goals and objectives
  • Exercise judgement and discretion to establish and maintain strong working relationships
  • Communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Build consensus among a group of varying stakeholders
  • Proactively identify problems, emerging issues and trends, and establish strategies to address them
  • Manage a project from conception through completion, including schematic project estimating, development of a detailed scope of work through final acceptance and approval of substantial completion punch list deficiencies.
