    We are seeking a Construction Superintendent I to superintends projects for the construction, renovation,and/or major repair of habitable buildings, other structures, facilities and improvements for an agency; andperforms other duties as required.

    Responsibilities Include, but are not liminted to:
  • Inspects properties for accessibility issues or deficiencies. Provides input to address accessibility ordeficiency issues and explains the pros and cons of each option. Develops plans, specifications and estimatesfor the project's scope of work. Reviews information with assistive technology specialist.
  • Procures services and materials. Checks invoices for completeness and accuracy. Responds to questionsregarding the vendor process. Assists with reviewing bid applications. Identifies vendors and obtain quotes.Coordinates scheduling various components of each project. Inspects the work of subcontractors and projectprogress and addresses any issues and ensures any needed corrections are made.
  • Researches property records to determine legal property ownership and basic property information. Determinesand documents the governing city/county jurisdiction of the property. Ensures compliance with local licensingand permitting requirements. Ensures vendors have required insurance and licensing.
  • Performs demolition, rough framing, finish carpentry, minor electrical and minor plumbing as necessary, orrecommends properly credentialed general/subcontractors as appropriate. Installs equipment such as automaticdoor openers, threshold transition plates, offset "swing-clear" door hinges, grab bars and alerting devicesfor the deaf such as smoke detectors and bed shakers.
  • Reviews assigned projects and provides progress notes on a scheduled basis as projects progress. Acts asliaison between general contractors, subcontractors, the consumer, homeowner, vocational and technical staffto obtain approval for change orders in approved plans. Uploads all documentation in an accessible format tothe case management system in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other duties as required.

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience as construction estimator, general contractor, architect, engineer, construction superintendent, in construction trades or in supervising one or more trades crews in major construction, or major renovation or major maintenance repair projects.
    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
    Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience as listed above will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
