Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Day/Community Habilitation

Location: Canton, NY

Job Type: Full-time

About the Company and Position: Join our team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) focusing on Day/Community Habilitation services in St. Lawrence County. As a valued member of our organization, you will work closely with individuals with developmental disabilities, providing person-centered support and promoting personal choice, daily living skills, community integration, and a safe home environment.

Responsible for ensuring the health and safety of individuals
Assist individuals in decision-making and problem-solving
Accompany individuals to various community activities
Teach individuals to maintain positive relationships
Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues
Help with daily living skills, including hygiene and meal preparation
Document activities and submit for billing
Transport individuals to activities using personal vehicles
Maintain communication with family and advocates
Flexible schedule to provide opportunities for individuals
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED
Completion of Agency orientation and training
NYS Drivers License with two years of experience
Reliable personal vehicle for business use
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and support individuals
Operate mechanical devices used by individuals
Physical strength to respond in crisis situations
Valid motor vehicle abstract

Salary: $18.90 per hour; sign-on bonus available
