CORPORATE MANUFACTURING ENGINEER
SUMMARY: Supply direct support to the plant level Manufacturing Engineers. Ensure benchmarking and standardization efforts occur throughout the organization. Develop and improve manufacturing processes across the organization in conjunction with the plant Manufacturing Engineers. Directly support the company's corporate functions such as Tooling, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales and Product Engineering. Provide support to the plant's Manufacturing Engineer's with continuous improvement activities, new process implementation and standardization/benchmarking. Coordinate, facilitate and audit the standards followed in the maintenance functions across the organization. Compile and publish key performance indices as defined by Management.
This position reports to the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure focus on improving safety, quality, and waste reduction throughout our manufacturing processes.
2. Gather and maintain production performance data for all facilities. Assist with analysis.
3. Conduct and maintain capacity analysis matrix for the organization. Make recommendations to adjust capacity as necessary.
4. Coordinate with plant Manufacturing Engineers to ensure best practices are communicated and standardized throughout the company.
5. Support the continuous improvement (Kaizen) efforts at each plant. Assist each plant's ME lead Kaizen events. Maintain a corporate continuous improvement scorecard.
6. Develop and document, working with the Corporate Quality Manager, processes that meet or exceed the defined Process Capability Ratio.
7. Assist plant ME's with addressing corrective actions and developing mistake proofing solutions. 8. Provide formal engineering support to the plant Maintenance Departments to improve existing equipment, specify new/replacement equipment, standardize preventative maintenance practices, standardize documentation (EAM) usage and audit plants for conformance.
9. Conduct annual/semiannual maintenance meeting with plant Maintenance Supervisors.
10. Provide support to the Corporate Tooling Manager on projects.
11. Maintain a data base of equipment suppliers for all plants to use for new/replacement equipment and spare parts.
12. Plan, schedule, conduct and document annual/semiannual ME planning meetings.
13. Collaborate with plant MEs to develop production standards, ergonomic and safety requirements, plant layouts, material handling requirements, etc.
14. Manage Manufacturing documentation such as WI's, job aides, process flow diagrams.
15. Supply a heavy focus on lean manufacturing principles and experience.
16. Perform all other duties as defined by Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None, however, must be able to work in a team environment with different disciplines.
TRAVEL: Regular local and overnight travel to Morrison factories, customers, suppliers, and trade shows.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Access to all cost, process, and tooling data. Intimately familiar with Company production processes, products and die designs. Access to confidential information such as financial statements, standard costs and material purchase prices and quantities.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3-5 years direct experience performing Manufacturing Engineering work in a manufacturing environment. Metal Stamping experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience with engineering related disciplines such as PFMEAs, use of statistical analysis, six sigma practices, etc. Experience in project management and managing multiple projects. Proven Lean experience.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in an engineering field required, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial is preferred, relevant experience in lieu of education could be acceptable. Fluency in English is required, fluency in Spanish is preferred.
