    Summary

    This position is in the Office of the Administrator (AO), Office of Science Advisory Board. About .

    This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.
    *Work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized as described in the Benefits section.

    Duties

    At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Serve as a junior Designated Federal Officer (DFO) in the Science Advisory Board staff office to help provide advice and recommendations to the Administrator and agency officials on scientific issues, technical aspects of science policies, and requested agency peer reviews or activities;
  • Assist with coordinating scientists, experts, and special government employees with evaluation of studies, peer review documents, methodologies, and program specific work;
  • Prepare initial draft papers for informal discussions, materials for briefings, updates for SAB webpages, draft reports and monthly newsletter articles, etc.;
  • Provide support to senior DFOs on database products, identify opportunities for improving use of current agency tools in order to assist SAB staff office with information management, information technology, and sharing and storing information for SAB advisory committees.
  • When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses. NOTE: Career ladder promotions are not automatic, and all eligibility and qualifications requirements must be met in order to progress to the next grade level.
