    Thrive Pet Healthcare is looking for a Multi-Site Lead to join our team of professionals in Houston, Texas

    Job Summary:

    The Multi-Site Lead Veterinarian & Mentor is a unique opportunity to do both veterinary care and mentor support for veterinarians within your support hospitals. This leader will report to the Regional Director of Operations and directly support 5 practices in and around Houston - Thrive The Heights, Falcon, Fountainview, Eldridge, and Pearland.

    A little about us: Our practices focus on general veterinary services, including preventative care and general surgery. We have access to the equipment needed for the best medicine, including in-house lab equipment, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, high-speed dental tools, and more.

    This leader is a member of the local leadership team at each practice, along with a Clinical Leader (if applicable) and practice manager to ensure continued skill set growth, medical mentorship and development in non-medical areas such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and more. The Multi-Site Veterinarian will support all doctors within their hospitals, with a primary focus on newer graduates. Through mentorship, this professional will nurture veterinarian talent starting in the earliest stages and support continued development and coaching to ensure they are equipped to handle difficult cases, interact with clients, and direct support staff as needed. This veterinary leader will play a crucial role in fostering engagement, facilitating skill development, and promoting retention in their hospitals.

    Responsibilities:

    Leading with Your Head

    Understanding business, solving problems, and making decisions through inclusive contributions of others.
    • Work with Thrive's central Externship Team to ensure optimized placement of externs and support the local leadership teams to ensure a good extern experience for the externs and hospitals.
    • Work with the hospital team to ensure they know what skills/knowledge the extern wants or is expected to obtain during their visit; and ensure a plan is in place to meet those.
    • Accountable for promoting the maximum productivity of the associates supported through direct coaching on flow management, technician support, medical competence, and client interactions resulting in increased mentee engagement, development, retention, transaction volume, and increased ACT.
    Leading with Your Heart

    The interpersonal aspect of Leading with Emotional Intelligence (EQ), effective use of influence, and working together constructively and creatively.
    • Attend relevant conferences and symposiums as needed for leadership position with Thrive Pet Healthcare
    • Participate in mentorship meetings with hospital leadership, associates, and the Thrive Medical Excellence team on a routine cadence.
    • Conducting performance management of doctors involves maintaining a consistent schedule of one-on-one meetings to offer support, feedback, and coaching. Collaborating with associates, the leader will craft individualized development plans tailored to each mentee's needs, guiding subsequent training initiatives effectively.
    • Offer clinical support to staff such as creating treatment plans, educating on bedside manners, and reviewing diagnostics.
    • Share strategies for maintaining a healthy work-life balance and mental/emotional well-being.
    Leading With Your Hands

    The art of bringing people together to leverage their skills, talents, and knowledge to achieve a common purpose with greater results.
    • Manage New Graduate Hospital On-boarding, including a brief review of programs such as SharePoint, Thrive University, VetSpire, etc. May include being present during on-boarding.
    • Be a part of onboarding for all new DVM hires within site hospitals.
    • Collaborate with University Relations and the Doctor Recruiting Team to support and facilitate the success of the recruiting process at the hospital.
    • Increase retention of doctors in the supported hospitals through creating meaningful relationships, driving doctor confidence, and increasing skill ability
    • Work with the Regional Director of Operations if/when doctors may be at retention risk.
    Key Qualifications:
    • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
    • Substantial clinical experience, typically at least 5 years of practice
    • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a veterinary clinic or hospital is preferable.
    • Ability to set and communicate clear expectations and goals for the team.
    • Ability to recognize support needs, collaborate with the affected stakeholders to design a plan, and manage the execution of the plan promptly.
    • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and training less experienced veterinarians and veterinary staff.
    • Ability to provide constructive feedback and support the professional development of others.
    • Understanding of and experience in client communication to support the clinic's reputation and client satisfaction.
    • Basic knowledge of veterinary clinic/hospital management, including financial aspects such as budgeting, billing, and revenue generation
    • Possesses an in-depth comprehension of the highest clinical standards of medical practice and adeptly coaches others on these standards. Furthermore, demonstrates proficiency in effectively communicating these standards to clients.
