Friends For Life, Houston's leading no-kill animal shelter, is searching for a dedicated and compassionate Wellness Manager to join our team.

In this role, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the physical and mental well-being of all animals entrusted to our care by leading our Wellness department.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and implement comprehensive wellness programs to promote animal health, happiness, and stability.
  • Be able to correctly prioritize tasks with a view toward attending to the sickest patients and recognizing and responding to emergencies.
  • Provide daily care, including administering medications, monitoring health, managing diet, and feeding protocols, and documenting medical records.
  • Handle animals (up to 100 lbs) for intake exams, booster vaccines, and transport to appointments.
  • Assist with procedures and ensure strong communication with veterinarians.
  • Manage animal care supplies and coordinate with the Animal Welfare manager.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with veterinarian approval.
  • Educate and support foster caregivers, answer inquiries, and build positive relationships.
  • Function as the primary medical resource for prograM/Foster animals. Offer medical guidance to foster parents using our veterinary approved SOPS and make informed decisions about veterinary care, including emergencies.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with animals in a shelter or clinic setting (preferred).
  • Proficiency in animal handling, venipuncture, medication administration, and lab procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex topics clearly to clients and staff.
  • Strong computer skills and experience using shelter management software (Shelterluv a plus).
  • A collaborative team player with a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Weekend availability and reliable transportation with a valid driver's license.
  • LVT or CVA certification is a strong plus.

$38, $40,000.00 per year
