Roles and Responsibilities:
The role is multi-faceted, dynamic and broad.

Some key job duties will be:

  • Working fulltime and onsite in our North Austin office with our growing team of lawyers and support staff
  • Organizing and reviewing files for important transactions and documents and preparing annotations and work product documents to aid attorney review of case files, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; working within the Firm's Case Management Software and Database to properly document all activities, facts, and events in a case
  • Drafting correspondence and legal court documents, such as pleadings, discovery, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas
  • Independently filing legal documents in the state courts of Illinois and other jurisdictions, and the federal courts
  • Maintaining documents received from clients and stakeholders, conducting factual investigations, retrieving and organizing evidence for use at depositions and trials
  • Communicating with clients secondary to intake staff to ensure criteria are met and that the client has a prosecutable case, and once the case is filed, fielding communications from clients with questions about their case's progress
  • Assisting lawyers in preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and conferences, completing many administrative tasks
  • Independently managing the docket (calendar) and maintaining an organized filing index within our Case Management Software for a discreet case load assigned to you and one or more attorneys
  • Ensuring that all work product you are responsible for is completed timely and adheres to the highest quality standards known to the legal services industry
Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or associate's degree in paralegal studies (with paralegal certificate(s) issued), from an accredited, notforprofit college or university is required
  • Proficiency using the efiling system of the state and federal court systems is required
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint) is required
  • Familiarity with Filevine (Case Management Software) and general computer savviness are plusses but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills are required
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines are required
