Instruct social skills curriculum in both individual and group settings, covering social communication, awareness, behavior, and confidence.
Support instruction in program areas such as Reframing, PEERS, and Social Mentoring.
Evaluate student social skills strengths and challenges, assisting in setting student goals.
Build relationships with local colleges to recruit college interns who can serve as social mentors to CIP students.
Supervise and train staff in the Social Skills department, conduct regular one-on-one sessions and evaluations.
Collaborate on social thinking projects across departments to integrate Social Thinking into students' overall plans.
Document individual social thinking sessions, monthly group notes, and progress reports.
Plan weekend activities in partnership with life skills to allow students to practice social skills.
Lead and oversee the Student Council.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the student's program planning.
The ideal Social Skills Coordinator has excellent communication, strong attention to detail, top-notch organization, self-motivation, and genuine empathy for the needs of families, students, and staff.
Must hold a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
Proficiency in office computer software and quick adaptability to new technologies is essential.
Experience in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder or learning differences, especially in social skills or social mentoring.
Demonstrated project and team management skills in a collaborative environment.
Preferred certification in PEER for Young Adults.

Social Skills Coordinator
A Day in the Life:
The Social Skills Coordinator works closely with students, families, and professionals to support students in gaining independence and acts as a key link to all CIP functions within the center. This role, based in Bloomington, IN, reports to the Program Director.
This position operates in a structured environment, with the possibility of extended hours, occasional weekend work, and minimal travel as needed. The Social Skills Coordinator role requires minimal physical exertion.
