    Job Description Job Description This position develops, organizes and implements the following YMCA programs: youth, teen and adult sports, preschool enrichment classes.

    This position reports to the Youth and Families Director.


    Hours:
    Part Time hours will vary


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
    Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
    Works with Youth & Enrichment/OPS Director to ensure proper maintenance of gymnasium, child watch areas, and all related equipment.

    Ensures the development of a sports program schedule seasonally with season sports calendar reflecting in age-appropriate activities & leagues for children.

    Works to expand our Youth Development Initiative to serve pre-teens and teens and manage Teen Space for maximum usage. Works with Youth & Enrichment Director to ensure this function is met.
    Markets and distributes program information to YMCA members and the community.
    Develops, coordinates and implements innovative programming for ages beginning at 2 to adult.
    To be seen as a leader for our Y by engaging with families, children and other Y employees. Direct service with delivering of classes is an essential function.
    Monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives and works with Y&E Director to meet all goals.
    Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
    Responds to all member and community inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
    Assists with program committee meetings where appropriate.
    Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
    Assumes a fair share of responsibilities of the administration of the branch, including nights and weekends. Weekend involvement and supervision is a must.


    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent; working towards obtaining degree in recreation or health related field.
    One to two years related experience preferred; for example, as an sports coach or volunteer.

    Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include:

    completion of:
    Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens, commercial drivers license

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW:


    Excellent public relations and conflict resolution skills in order to facilitate positive relationships with parents, staff, children, and outside agencies.

    Have a concern for detail and accuracy and have the ability to delegate responsibility.
