    • Please Note: COVID Vaccine requirement for DOC employment NO LONGER REQUIREDThe Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to take on the dynamic role of a Substance Use Disorder Professional Lead- Corrections Specialist 3 within the Health Services Division. This position is located at the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell WA, near the Tri Cities.

    Reporting directly to the Substance Abuse Recovery Unit (SARU) Clinical Supervisor, this position provides a lead role in the development, implementation, oversight and fidelity of Outpatient treatment services provided in Eastern Washington by Substance Use Disorder Treatment Specialists.

    The position supports the Department's mission to improve public safety by enhancing successful reentry via providing leadership for optimum delivery of Substance Abuse treatment.

    • Provides oversight to all program personnel including Substance Use Disorder Professionals and trainees (SUDP/SUDPT).
    • Ensures assessment, treatment, continuing care, transfer, discharge planning and other addiction treatment components in accordance WAC Conducts weekly program consultation for DOC staff.
    • Administers the design and oversees the implementation and application of quality assurance measures for models of outpatient treatment both in prison and in the community.
    • Provides oversight statewide for DOSA incarcerated individuals ensuring accountability accordance with RCW and WAC.
    • Participates in employment decisions, evaluations, training, and supervision according to WA DOC policies for the assigned program.
    • Development of curriculum for statewide outpatient treatment programs using gender responsive conventions.
    • Provide Eastern Washington oversight of Outpatient treatment provided by DOC staff, ensuring the design, development and delivery meet performance standards and are measurable.
    • Provides training to facility staff to ensure awareness and understanding of goals of the program. To include Correctional Officers and Classification staff regarding treatment admittance, compliance, and discharge.
    • Identify staff development needs and opportunities.
    • Conduct clinical file reviews in other facility programs as needed.
    • Manages the Department's Substance Abuse Program within guidelines and policy ensuring operations according to contract specifications. Including clinical services, program schedules, group quality and clinical record reviews at Eastern Washington facilities.
    • Ensure quality of clinical records by reviewing a minimum of 10% each quarter (WAC
    • Ensure the fidelity of and staff compliance with the DOSA sentencing process. Responsible for understanding WAC 762 DOSA revocation process and RCW 9.94A 660 DOSA statute.
    • Responsible for ensuring assigned staff comply with WAC and WA DOC policies/procedures and standards.
    • Responsible to organize evidenced based curriculum and development.
    • Responsible for organizing, implementing, and supervising the program design as defined by the program's clinical manual, SARU Clinical Supervisor, and SARU Administrator.
    • Ensures compliance with on-going analysis and use of the quality assurance system as defined by the SARU Administrator.
    • Responsible for data collection and reporting as required.
    • Participates in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, case reviews and conferences.
    • Responsive to the Incarcerated Individuals Grievance Program and complaints related to substance abuse program and staff in collaboration with the SARU Clinical Supervisor.
    • Manages the day-to-day operations of the SARU Substance Use Disorder Treatment Specialist at CRCC and AHCC and provides oversight of contracted services in the community.
    • Facilitate and/attend daily, weekly, or monthly facility management meetings as required and requested by SARU Administration.
    • Communicate frequently with the SARU Clinical Supervisor and as directed with SARU Administrator.
    • Participate in training and education to remain current in knowledge of effective treatment methods.
    • Responsible for ensuring the effective use of all program resources.
    • Provide staff training on implementation of program design as defined by curriculum.
    • Responsible for ensuring assigned program space is maintained in presentable manner.
    • Oversees collection of program data and accurate reporting.
    • Demonstrate respect for supervisors, subordinates, WA DOC personnel and incarcerated individuals.
    • Comply with and supports all WA DOC rules, regulations, and procedures as applicable.
    • Provide input into the incarcerated individual disciplinary process and participate in DOSA revocation hearings and advise at incarcerated individual's FRMT/ MDT on DOSA revocations and incarcerated individual's transfers.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Associates Degree with a Social Service or Criminal Justice focus from an accredited college whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a foreign equivalent.
    • State Certification as a Substance Use Professional required.
    • Possess exemplary competence in addiction counseling competencies.
    • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Familiarity with Washington State databases

    Desired Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or a foreign Equivalent.
    • Experience and understanding of evidence-based treatment delivery practices.
    • Professional experience using OMNI/SharePoint or other offender tracking systems.
    • Experience within DOC environment.
    • Two years of supervisory experience in the Substance Use Disorder field
    • Must meet all requirements as an Approved Supervisor of Substance Use Disorder Professionals/Trainees.
