This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires the legal right to work in the United States of America. California State University, Fullerton cannot sponsor parttime faculty for work visas or permanent residence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences' departments and programs offer students the breadth of a traditional liberal arts education in the humanities and social sciences while preparing them for a wide range of professions, for graduate school, and for advanced professional study in fields such as law, education, public administration, clinical psychology, and business.

The Department:


The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures offers diverse programs of language, cultural studies, linguistics, literature, and teacher education aimed at meeting the varying needs of today's students.

Its Vietnamese Program teaches an array of interdisciplinary Vietnamese Studies courses, from elementary language classes to advanced seminars, and delivers the following academic degrees and programs:


  • Minor in Vietnamese;
  • Vietnamese Courses for the Bachelor of Arts in International Business with a concentration in Intercultural Management;
  • General Education courses, an active Vietnamese Studies Club, and CSUapproved International Programs in Vietnam.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters.

The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May.

On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.


APPOINTMENT AND SALARY


All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.

Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range:
$5,007 - $6,359 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $5,925 per month


The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,008.40 to $7,110 per semester.
