Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The Estimator will participate in all aspects of the bid/estimating process, including but not limited to – review of plans and specs, soliciting and negotiating prices with subcontractors/suppliers, quantity take-off, pricing, scoping, and bidding of construction documents. This role is highly collaborative and will work closely with ConAm's internal teams as well as external suppliers, subcontractors, owners, architects, and engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Participate in all pre-bid meetings and attend job walks.
· Collaborate with Project Manager and ownership to review project scope, bids, and recommended vendors.
· Performs quantity take-offs.
· Create Scoping documents for CSI bid Packages.
· Identifying scope of work for the bid coordinator to help ensure adequate bid coverage is received for all trades.
· Identify all required CSI trades necessary for bidding
· Quickly and accurately diagnose error, scope, and exclusions in subcontractor estimates.
· Creates, understands, receives, and distributes RFIs to clarify plan discrepancies, constructability issues, and scheduling problems.
· Act as a resource to project management throughout the project to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate.
· Supports post-bid buyouts.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years' experience, preferably with a General Contractor, doing a similar scope of work.
· Healthcare estimating experience is a plus.
· 4-year college degree in related field is a plus.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
· Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects.
· Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers.
· Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
· Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
