    The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a full-time clinical track faculty psychologist in Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health to provide clinical services and education in the food allergy clinic and our new outpatient Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health Clinic.

    The psychologist will work closely with nationally-recognized food allergy and eosinophilic esophagitis programs that provide cutting edge diagnosis and treatment options for patients and families with food allergies, eosinophilic esophagitis, and other allergic conditions.

    The psychologist will also work in a new interprofessional outpatient clinic with psychology and behavioral health, neurodevelopmental pediatrics, integrative heath, and psychiatry.

    As part of the larger UVA Health Children's system, both clinics serve all children regardless of insurance status and language preference and are be connected to UVA Health's extensive network of pediatric primary care and subspecialty care.


    Responsibilities will include:

    • Providing psychological evaluation and treatment for youth with food allergies and provide intervention for patients and caregivers during food challenge clinic (20%)
    • Outpatient mental and behavioral health assessment and intervention for diverse youth and families at the Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Health Clinic (60%)
    • Providing consultation to medical and interprofessional teams
    • Teaching medical fellows, residents, and medical students
    • Participation on departmental and health system committees

    This position is particularly suited to psychologists with strong training and interest in culturally responsive treatment of anxiety.

    Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health provides clinical service for the Department of Pediatrics and UVA Health Children's Hospital.

    The Section currently is comprised of six pediatric and child clinical psychologists and is rapidly expanding with expectations to double in the next year.

    This presents us with a remarkable opportunity to expand our team. The psychologists work closely with pediatrician colleagues, fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, and multi-disciplined allied health staff.

    Our pediatric psychologists and food allergy colleagues have outstanding working relationships with providers in the community as well as with other pediatric subspecialists and colleagues in other areas of the UVA Health System.

    Candidates also must possess a PhD/PsyD or equivalent from an APA-accredited program, have completed an APA-accredited (or equivalent) internship, be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia, demonstrate cultural humility, and be skilled in interprofessional practice in a complex, academic medical environment.

    The new faculty member will be expected to obtain board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology once eligible.
