- Adhere to strict and unified protocols.
- Be on call during designated hours for Critical Incident notification and deployment to incidents
- Arrive on scene within specified time frame of deployment by CIR Manager and/or Lead
- When deployed, report in at minimum every 15 minutes to CIR Manager via text
- Provide critical incident assessment and violence interruption on-site:
- Arrive, park safely, and establish that it is safe to engage at scene
- If first on scene, text manager and members of coverage team
- Text CIR Manager and/or Lead that you are engaging
- Assess the scene for witnesses, known community members/allies, law or safety officers, other unoccupied first responders
- Identify yourself to stakeholders and ask how you can support
- Gather information including the harmed party, nature of the incident, people involved who may need additional support, etc.
- Provide crowd control, de-escalation, mediation, and conflict resolution
- Provide basic emergency resources packets and directions/transportation assistance to hospital as appropriate
- Notify CIR Manager and/or Lead when scene is safe/clear and no further action needed
- Participate in rigorous team pre-brief to plan for safe and protocol driven deployments
- Review and refine protocol alongside CIR Manager and Leads
- Inform and help execute team plan for specific "hotspot" remediation
- Confirm coverage and staffing plan. Notify CIR Manager as soon as possible, no less than 48 hours before assigned shifts, if unable to be on call during assigned shift.
- Participate in team debriefs follow-up to engage and support people directly impacted by gun violence:
- Provide referral information and linkage to Resource Navigation and Community Safety Managers
- Partner with the Community Safety Team to conduct initial risk assessments and develop 24, 48, and 72 hour emergency safety plans following each incident
- Ensure safety protocols are developed in real time in response to the unique incident and shared for safe passage, vigils, funerals, and memorials
- Participate in weekly "hot spot" remediation, pop up events, and safe passage efforts in partnership with the Community Safety Team
- Inform CIR Manager and/or Leads of young people who should be referred to the Resource Navigation and Community Safety Teams
- Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings with CIR Manager to review workload and schedule, highlight successes, and find solutions to challenges
- Attend mandatory team meetings to go over protocols, hot-spot remediation, and social network analysis
- Provide and maintain records for data and tracking report as requested by CIR Manager and/or Lead
- Attend all required training and professional development opportunities Requirements

Description
Job DescriptionSummary of Position Reporting to the Critical Incident Manager or a Critical Incident Leads, the Critical Incident Responder provides compassionate on-scene violence interruption, crowd control, de-escalation, and stabilization at scenes of violence. They are an integral part of the Critical Incident Response System and are trained in crowd control, de-escalation, and stabilization.

Preferred Skills/Experience
