- CDDs are to follow instructions as identified by dispatch or their managers and supplied documentation.
- Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations that govern safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials.

- Adhere to all Old Dominion Policies and procedures as well as conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Operate BLU/DYMS and any other computer/internal freight monitoring systems required.
- Must possess a valid commercial driver's license with hazmat, tanker and doubles endorsements.
- Might be required to acquire Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
- Must have 12 months previous tractor trailer driving experience and/or be a graduate of a State Certified and Licensed truck driving school, acceptable to Old Dominion and/or have satisfactorily completed the Old Dominion truck driver training program (ODTDT 8/88)
- Must have the ability to read, write, understand and speak English, and perform simple mathematical calculations with mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, maintain logs, etc.
- Must have the ability to properly operate hand held mini-computer when required.
- Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
- Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance, and extended periods, of time.
- Must be available for around-the-clock trips to accommodate freight movements and must be able to be away from home for extended periods of time.
- Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the US Department of Transportation.
- Must satisfactorily pass a drug test.
- Must satisfactorily pass an alcohol test (if applicable)
- Must satisfactorily pass the orientation/training program instructions by an Old Dominion qualified driver trainer.

Old Dominion Freight Line is currently looking for a Line Haul Container Driver to join our OD Family Culture. Our Container Drayage Drivers (CDDs) will successfully pick up and deliver inter-modal containers to and from customer locations to and from ocean ports and rail heads. This can be within a local, regional, or national area. Communicate with dispatch or their managers any issues which would affect a delivery schedule. This would include but not be limited to port/rail delays, traffic delays, mechanical failures, driver errors, etc. OD's Line Haul Drivers average annual pay is $107,000. OD has a Tuition Reimbursement Program available for new graduates of a trucking school. OD's Container Drivers are critical members of our OD Family as they help to accurately deliver our customers freight and help keep our promises.
