Financial Controller - Investments, Boston, MACountry: United States of America The Controllership function is responsible for the operations and controls surrounding accounting, tax and financial reporting of the institution.
This function's responsibilities demonstrates expertise in processing transactions, recording accounting entries, managing the general ledger and reconciliations, and interpreting and complying with technical accounting matters and financial reporting disclosure requirements.
Through the Controllership function, stakeholders receive relevant insight and commentary on transaction-level and financial results for analysis and decision making.
The Tax function prepares income tax returns and indirect tax filings. Provides research and advice on tax-related matters.Essential
Functions/Responsibility
Statements:
Manages and monitors any large project or process implementation within the accounting function.
Shares accounting expertise with leaders and business lines by providing guidance, interpretation, and communication of policy and/or procedural changes and impact.
Directs and guides accounting teams by reviewing financial information, reporting, and disclosures.Ensures compliance and regulatory standards are met within the department.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Qualified candidate for this position should hold their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Work Experience:
9+ years of work experience in accounting, finance, business administration or similar field within the banking or financial services industry
Skills and Abilities:
Advanced accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP/IFRS and regulatory reporting standards.
Ability to lead, influence and direct peers, subordinates and management.
Ability to make effective decision making on complex matters.
Ability to convey a sense or urgency and drive
Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups (e.g. business units) outside of Corporate Accounting to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed.
Ability to adjust to new
developments/changing
circumstances.
