Life With Us:
The Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) will initially be based at the Sunshine Adult Acute Psychiatric Unit (SAAPU) at Sunshine Hospital and will be a core staff member of the multidisciplinary team. This position will eventually transition to the new mental health units at Sunshine Hospital which are currently under construction and due to become operational in the second half of 2023.
The new mental health inpatient units have been designed to provide consumers, families, carers and staff with a contemporary and safe environment to deliver high quality, evidence based acute mental health care, treatment and support. The RPN will have the opportunity to be involved in the transition and operationalisation of these new mental health units.
SAAPU is located at Sunshine Hospital and is a 29-bed adult acute mental health inpatient unit that offers support, holistic care and evidence-based treatment to consumers and their families and carers in the west.
There are currently 52 new adult acute mental health beds under construction at Sunshine Hospital. These will comprise of 2 x 26 bed units and will deliver a contemporary and innovative model of care to consumers and their families and carers once open. Successful applicants will transition to the new units when they are operational later in 2023.
The RPN will be an integral member of this multidisciplinary team and will help support leadership in the effective running of the inpatient unit.
This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in the transition to the new facility and setting the standards for the new, innovative service, due to commence mid-late 2023.
