- Provide leadership in Quality Assurance programs.
- Develop & implement continuous quality improvement programs.
- Manage internal audits of Quality Assurance, HACCP/FSMA and Biosecurity Programs and work with plants on corrective action.
- Manage of the company customer complaint program, working with plants on corrective action and providing feedback to Sales for resolving complaints with customers.
- Support customer Quality Assurance and Feed Safety audits of Darling plants.
- Assist the Director Technical Services with the management of the company's antioxidant application program.
- Assist with the management of the company's Mock Recall Program.
- Manage facility Feed Safety Certifications.
- Train plant management and personnel in Biosecurity, HACCP and GMP programs.
- Contribute product development ideas and work on product development teams where appropriate.
- Provide support to the company's two central analytical laboratories.
- Work in other areas as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required in related field OR minimum of 1 year of industry experience; experience managing a team also preferred.
- B.S. in Chemistry, Quality Management, Meat Science or related field preferred.
- HACCP certification preferred.
- Experience with plant Quality Systems and HACCP/GMP Plan auditing.
- Experience in the Pet Food industry.
- Experience with animal by-products.
- Excellent math skills, including statistical analysis.
- Highly organized; superior time management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
- Self-motivated; self-starter; extroverted personality.
- Work well with all levels of the corporation.
- Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
- Frequently lifts up to 20 lbs.
- Occasionally push, pull, move, or lift 50 lbs.
- Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
