Description

Responsible for the accurate reporting of assigned accounts and understanding what drives the account balance. Independently review accounts to identify unexplained amounts and work to resolve outstanding issues.

Analyze financial data (including monthly profit and loss variances), investigate, and resolve any variances in order to prepare financial records and statements for management.

Maintain general ledger as needed. Generate and interpret financial records and statements for management.

Essential Functions:

Key player in the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, reports, and schedules to ensure accurate and timely reporting of monthly financial close.

Collaborate with GL, A/P, A/R and Operations to ensure all close and financial reporting deadlines are met.
Assist in preparation of complex, non-routine financial reports and account analyses as requested by management.
Make effective recommendations to upper management.
Provide audit support for external auditors.
Provide support for US or foreign entity accounting teams.
Perform other duties or special projects/research as requested by management.
Ability to follow, understand, and improve existing journal entries and work papers. Develop and/or update procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls.

Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent education; CPA or CMA preferred.
5+ years of experience, with 2+ of those years at the Senior Accountant level.
Strong knowledge of technical accounting under GAAP.
Sage or ERP Tier II system experience preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
Previous experience in multi-currency and multi-entity companies a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills required.
Team player with a positive attitude and a strong thirst for knowledge.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams to improve corporate efficiency, internal controls and achieve corporate goals.

Ability to be highly organized and detailed oriented, handle multiple tasks and priorities, and work independently and effectively under deadlines and conflicting priorities.

Flexible and adaptable to change.
Creative problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills with ability to organize raw data into meaningful reports for facilitating important management decisions.

Ability to quickly learn new accounting software programs and navigate multiple reporting platforms with ease.
