    ABOUT THE MATHER GROUP, LLC


    The Mather Group, LLC (TMG) is one of the fastest-growing independent, fee-only registered investment advisory firms in the country, offering comprehensive wealth management services with our clients' best interests in mind.

    TMG is a federally Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) with a fiduciary duty to our clients. That means we are obligated to always act in their best interest.

    When clients choose TMG, we work to mitigate any potential conflicts of interest regarding how their money is managed and where their money is held.

    Our financial professionals do not hold brokerage licenses, are not compensated by selling products, and do not earn commissions—we do not incentivize ourselves at our clients' expense.

    We aim to minimize cost wherever possible and to provide complete transparency about our fees, which are outlined in our firm's public disclosure documents.


    What we are doing differently is educating investors on what the fiduciary responsibility really means, at a time when it is more important than ever.


    ABOUT TMG'S TAX TEAM
    TMG's Tax Team manages the comprehensive tax needs of TMG clients.

    We focus on two major areas:


    Tax consulting and compliance, which includes tax advice for clients and TMG wealth advisors as well as client tax filings for individuals, small businesses, gifts, trusts, and estates.

    Tax retirement strategy planning, which includes the assessment of income streams over a 30-year time frame as well as the coordination of retirement distributions with the goal of maximizing assets and minimizing tax exposure.

    Our Tax Team aims to provide a long-term home for all team members.

    We want accountants to join us at any point—directly out of school or with years of experience—and grow their career here.

    Our goal is never to just fill a seat but to hire individuals who will help us continue to grow TMG long-term.

    As of July 2022, we have about 25 people on the Tax Team, which is organized into sub-teams that are dedicated to specific groups of clients.

    The Tax Team headcount may increase by 50-100% over the next few years based on TMG's current client growth projections.


    ABOUT THE POSITION

    As a Tax Manager, you'll be responsible for:
    Providing timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds the expectations of clients, your Client Service Team, and the Tax Team as a whole
    Training, overseeing, and mentoring the members of your Client Service Team
    Reviewing and finalizing individual, gift, fiduciary, and business tax returns and work papers
    Reviewing and finalizing annual tax projections, calculations of estimated tax payments, and the implementation of recommended tax strategies
    Reviewing, finalizing, and presenting long-term tax projections, including identification of tax-reduction strategies for clients and prospective clients
    Maintaining a high level of organization with client data and files, and keeping track of client financial and tax-related transactions
    Interacting directly with clients, responding to questions/concerns and obtaining information necessary for their tax compliance and/or tax strategy work
    Reviewing and finalizing responses to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices and communicating with IRS and state agencies about such audits, inquiries, and tax notices
    Assisting with various administrative responsibilities of the Tax Team
    Reviewing and finalizing tax research projects and developing educational materials for clients, the Tax Team, and TMG Team
    Identifying and developing technological and process improvements
    Keeping current on tax rules and regulations at both the federal and state levels
    Ensuring professional development through ongoing education and maintaining accreditation
    Serving on departmental committees, as requested
    Reporting to the senior members of your Client Service Team

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
    Bachelor's degree required
    CPA, JD, or EA required
    4 years of tax-preparation experience required
    Prior experience managing a team of associates required
    Previous experience in the financial services industry a plus
    Strong track record of achievement and meeting/exceeding ambitious targets
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    A motivated, self-starter looking for a place to grow your career
