    A Meacham Middle SchoolCampus Description:
    W. A. Meacham Middle School opened on September 5, 1961 with 25 classrooms serving 850 students. The first principal was Henry V. Wylie, the former assistant principal at Monning Middle School.

    The junior high students who were attending the nearby Diamond Hill-Jarvis Junior-Senior High School were transferred to Meacham to begin the year.

    The school is named after William Alfred Meacham who was an area educator and Fort Wort ISD assistant superintendent of high schools from 1931 to 1960.

    The school cost $944,619 to construct and was designed by architect Preston M. Geren and built by contractor Cain, Brogdon, and Cain.

    The school has some elements of the International style with its flat roof and large expanses of metal hopper windows.

    Duty Days: 219 daysFLSA Status: ExemptPosition PurposeDirects and manages overall campus operations such that all students regardless of socioeconomic factors are prepared for accelerated learning to compete in a global economy.

    Responsible for leadership of the campus instructional program ensuring high standards of instruction and student achievement, compliance with district policies, application of instructional programs, and effective operation of all campus activities.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSInstructional Leadership (Instructional Learner & Leader)The principal is responsible for ensuring every student receives high-quality instruction.
    Implements state and District curricula and assessments aligned with state standards, including college and career readiness standards.
    Monitors and ensures high-quality instruction practices among teachers and staff that improve student performance.
    Monitors multiple forms of student data to inform instruction and intervention decisions to maximize student achievement.
    Ensures that effective instruction maximizes growth of individual students and student groups, supports equity, and eliminates the achievement gap.
    Human CapitalThe principal is responsible for ensuring there are high-quality teachers and staff in every classroom throughout the school.
    Recruits, selects, places, mentors, and retains diverse and highly effective teachers and staff.
    Coaches and develops teachers and staff, by giving individual feedback and aligned professional development opportunities.
    Implements collaborative structures, and provides leadership opportunities for effective teachers and staff.
    Provides clear expectations of performance, and conducts rigorous evaluations of all staff using multiple data sources.
    Executive Leadership (Strategic Leader)The principal models personal responsibility and a relentless focus on improving student outcomes.

    Implements daily schedules and a yearlong plan for regular data-driven instruction cycles, gives student access to diverse and rigorous instructional programs, and builds in time for professional development.

    Aligns resources with the needs of the school, and effectively monitors the impact of these resources on school goals.
    Collaborates with District staff to implement District policies, and advocates for the needs of District students and staff.

    Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises and evaluates the performance of staff assigned to campus including assistant principal(s), teacher(s), counselor(s), librarian(s), instructional aides, clerical support staff, and custodians.

    Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
    Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    Knowledge of elementary and/or secondary school curriculum and concepts.
    Knowledge of federal and state guidelines and District policies and procedures regarding all students services and programs.
    Knowledge and understanding of literacy instruction.

    Skill in judgment and creativity in decision-making, together with use of qualitative and quantitative data to make decisions about teaching and learning, including student and teacher assessment; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

    Ability to differentiate instructional support for experienced and new teachers.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Required QualificationsEducation:
    Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a directly related field required;Degree in School Administration preferred

    Certification/License:
    Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification required;T-TESS and T-PESS Certification required

    Experience:
    2 years successful administrative experience required;Experience in inner-city schools with diverse populations preferred

    Language:
    Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings
