    Description

    Job Duties:
    Experienced welder at our welding and fabrication shop.

    The preferred candidate will have the following skills:

    FCAW solid wire with 85/15 gas; SMAW - all positions; 3G 1" plate with backup bar # /8 certification; carbon-arc ability; cutting torch experience; blueprint reading and layout skills; heavy plate fabrication ability; overhead crane rigging; and a willingness to learn product repair procedures.


    Employment weld test consists of:
    Flat
    - inch plate beveled 45 degrees with 2mm nose

    • Plates are tacked together with 2 mm opening, no backing plate, and open root
    • Weld root pass with heat setting of 19 volts and 200 amps
    • Remainder of weld is set at 28.5 volts and 325 amps
    Vertical

    • Same plate as flat
    • Position vertical run root pass down with settings 19 volts 200 amps
    • Remainder will be welded vertical up with a weave pattern at a setting of 18 volts and 180 amps
    • All welds are checked for full penetration and then cut 2 pieces 1 in wide and bent, face side and root side, checking for breakage
    • Wire 045 solid wire with 85/15 gas

    Requirements:
    Proven welding and fabrication experience; ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings; certification is a plus. Vocational-technical school and/or secondary level trade school training in welding technology.
