DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


As a certified Nurse Aide, you will support the implementation of individualized care plans for inmates housed at SCI Laurel Highlands.

Your work will be under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Your daily duties will include completing basic nursing skills and nursing procedures to maintain optimum inmate health and provide quality care.

You will collect specimens from inmates and assist them with daily living activities to ensure basic physical care needs are met.

You will also participate in life skills programming by following and documenting a nursing care plan as well as providing care consistent with inmate's needs.

Nurse aides also will have to participate in emergency situations and emergency response drills.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment, 40 hours per week
  • The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The work shifts are 8 hours to be determined by open shifts at the time of hire. You will have rotating days off.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM 2:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 PM 10:30 PM
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 PM 6:30 AM
  • Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry;
    or:
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirements:


  • This position is assigned to a longterm or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:


  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • You must pass a background investigation.
