Position Focus:
This position combines research with lab managerial responsibilities.
Under the direction and supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate will independently conduct research and experiments in Reproductive Health.
Specifically, the lab focusses on the roles of innate immune signaling during normal and pathological pregnancies and the mechanisms of crosstalk at the maternal-fetal interface.
Additionally, the individual will take on the role of Lab Manager and be responsible for carrying out and managing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
Responsibilities include training and supervising other members of the lab who may include postdoctoral associates, postgraduate associates, research assistants, clinical trainees and students, as well as providing assistance where needed.
literature reviews, specialized cell and tissue isolations and cultures; ELISAs; protein and RNA extraction from cells and tissues; flow cytometry; immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence; Western blotting; RT-qPCR; mouse colony management; animal surgeries and tissue collections.
Lab duties include but are not limited to:
overseeing the smooth operation of the research laboratory; preparing chemicals and reagents; ordering and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies; keeping records of laboratory purchases and expenses; maintaining laboratory equipment; organizing laboratory and equipment services; and keeping the laboratory up to EHS regulations and organized.
The individual will perform additional functions incidental to research activities and lab oversight, as assigned or as the position requires.
