    Description
    Duties * Plans, distributes, coordinates, evaluates, and monitors work assignments of others.

    * Ensures the effectiveness of a fire prevention and protection program * Controls the technical operation and administration of all phases of fire prevention and fire protection at Pine Bluff Arsenal.

    * Makes recommendations and implements changes to firefighting operations. * Articulates, presents, or promotes information to serviced organizations or community partners. Requirements Conditions of Employment * A Secret clearance is required.

    * This position requires the completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

    * This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

    * The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.

    Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.

    * This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

    * This position has been designated Mission Essential.

    In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

    * In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.

    * As a "Key" position, the incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.

    * This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty. * This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. The employee is required to work 60 hours per week which includes one 24-hour shift. May be subject to recall. * Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

    * The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid government and state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S.

    states or possessions to operate vehicles. * This position requires successful completion of an annual Job Performance Test. * This position requires participation in a cardiovascular physical fitness program. * TDY or business travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

    * Must report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends and must maintain a functioning telephone at residence for recall situations.

    Specialized Experience:
    One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Contributing to the technical and administrative management of fire prevention/training program; 2. Planning, directing or managing the work and training of a fire crew; 3. Aligning fire prevention and protection activities with new or changing policies and procedures.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

    In addition to the specialized experience listed above, incumbent must possess and then continue to maintain the following DoD Firefighter Certification levels:
    Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, and Hazardous Material Incident Command.

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

    Grade Requirement:

    Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

    Additional information * Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

    * You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. * One year trial/probationary period may be required. * Direct deposit of pay is required.

    * This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
