Role overview (generally what can I expect why does it exist?)
An integral role within the BlueLight Commercial team, leading on the Digital Forensics category.
You will be providing the delivery of procurement and contract management activities, setting the commercial vision for specific categories of spend.
This is an agile role where expertise will be developed from leading on a specific category and acquiring multi-category skills and competence.
You will be leading and managing a team, investing time in their development and performance.
Being responsive to stakeholder needs is key, offering pragmatic solutions whilst developing and nurturing effective networks to exert a positive influence on behalf of BlueLight Commercial.
You will work closely with the Commercial Director to manage and embed a national category portfolio, developing sustainable commercial strategies that deliver value for money and meet the demands of modern 'BlueLight' customers, such as policing etc.
This role is as much about personal qualities as it is about technical knowledge. Calling on influencing and collaboration skills to encourage and effect cultural change.A trusted and dedicated 'commercial advisor/expert' who can establish positive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders; This will include Police Chiefs.
Police and Crime Commissioners, Heads of Service and Commercial Leads.My Team and the BlueLight Team (what is being part of the Team like?)
You will be an integral part of the wider commercial function, contributing to BLC's high-performing team delivering commercial excellence to make a real difference.
Providing effective and consistent services ensuing that products and services purchased from suppliers represent value for money after taking into all other considerations such as social value and environmental impact.
You will act as an internal and external professional adviser on procurement and contract management matters to Directors and colleagues for specific portfolios of spend categories, supporting effective decision making in relation to the procurement of goods and services from suppliers.

My Responsibilities and accountabilities (examples of what will I be doing?)
Delivery of Commercial work – including commercial vision, category strategies, sourcing, contract management, e
g:
Developing and setting the commercial vision for specific categories of spend which will deliver the best commercial outcomes for policing and partners
Working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement category strategies that include commercial and demand profiles, providing an in-depth understanding of the market, its trends and costing models and innovations.
Driving and encouraging innovative thinking across the wider team in addressing the issues around social value and sustainability
Undertaking any other work as directed by your line manager in connection with your job as may be requested
Qualifications & Accreditations
You are someone who has attained:
CIPS Level 6 qualified, or working towards it, or equivalent qualification
Successful completion of a recognised leadership programme
You are someone who has:
Experience & Knowledge:
3 years minimum experience in a senior commercial /category role in either the public or private sector
Experience of managing strategic commercial relationships with key suppliers and major contractors
Excellent knowledge of category management, strategic procurement processes and contract management including emerging practices
Demonstrable commercial awareness and acumen, including an understanding of supply market dynamics and the influence of procurement and service delivery models on those markets relating to their portfolio of spend categories
Experience in sourcing, implementing and managing new contracts and ways of working, including change management models
Proven success in leading the full end-to-end commercial cycle
Successful leadership and team management experience
You are someone who has:
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (including building and managing credible and positive working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partners)
The ability to negotiate and influence in a positive manner to achieve positive outcomes
