- Pursue new business, expand existing accounts, and minimize lost accounts to achieve profitable sales growth and specified objectives within the assigned territory.
- Identify and assess prospects in line with company account stratification objectives.
- Research customer business requirements and develop a product and service mix to meet those needs.
- Analyze market trends and recommend products to customers based on their business objectives and needs.
- Stay informed about market conditions, product advancements, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; impart information to customers as part of value-added services provided.
- Address customer inquiries regarding products, prices, availability, and product usage.
- Offer product information and practical training to customer staff.
- Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, etc.
- Handle communication and collection of accounts receivable as required, collaborating with the credit department and clients; collect all outstanding balances based on approved credit terms.
- Coordinate deliveries according to the transportation department's schedule; address any issues that arise during the ordering process (e.g., out-of-stock items, special orders, low inventory, etc.).
- Participate in company events, promotions, customer visits, and customer gatherings.
- Attend and engage in general sales and district meetings.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions.
- Assist in training new employees when requested.
- Review and analyze daily and weekly reports such as special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales/gross profit margin data.
- Handle administrative tasks like preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years of sales, and/or chef/restaurant management experience, and/or related (Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality; or Culinary Arts) degree.
- 1 year of external foodservice sales experience is preferred
- Preference given to individuals with restaurant management/chef experience
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, and some familiarity with Salesforce is a bonus
- Working knowledge of warehouse distribution is advantageous
- Strong communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Proficiency in more than one language
- Previous experience in Restaurant Management, Foodservice Outside Sales, or as a Chef is desirable
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (no multiple DUIs within the last 2 years)
- Current automobile insurance with specified liability limits is required
- Completion of pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check).
