    The Senior Project Cost Accountant is responsible for monitoring and assisting in maintaining the financial health of the projects assigned.

    Project Cost Accountant


    will oversee day-to-day operations on all activities related to projects, including but not limited to invoicing and true-up of budgeted cost, identifying variances, and addressing gross margin gaps with the operations team.


    The ideal candidate has a background in accounting within the construction or large-scale restoration industry, excellent attention to detail, and reasonable knowledge of ERP systems.


    This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader who can prioritize, plan, and communicate well with all positions on the Operations Team (i.e., Project Directors, Regional Directors, and Vice President) in all matters related to projects and extended to vendors and subcontractors.

    What you'll do....Monitor project progress from inception through completionAnticipate, identify, and work with the project team to resolve project issuesAssist in the development of project budgets, ensuring alignment with overall financial goalsAnalyze cost variances and discrepancies, providing insights and recommendations to project managersCommunication of concerns or issues to project management and accounting managementProcess and review subcontractor work orders and pay applications for complianceMonitor and track project costs, including direct and indirect expenses, labor, and materialsProcess clients' pay applications and invoicesPerform project close-out financial and administrative functionsPrepare ad-hoc detailed project analyses for operations and finance managementProvide comprehensive financial analysis and commentary on project cost as requested by managementProactively communicate to all levels of the companyPerform cost reconciliations of projects versus adjuster's reportsSupport internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and reconciliations related to project costsAssists closely in the production of Work in Progress SchedulesAssist team members to increase quality controlPerform other duties and tasks as requiredSenior Project Cost Accountant

    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeA minimum of 5years of experience in accounting, cost accounting, or similar disciplines, preferably within the construction industry or comparable industry


    Qualifications:
    Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting softwareStrong interpersonal skills for interacting with accountants, clients, and upper managementSelf-starter and proactiveAttention to detailGood planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize workExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAble to multi-task in afast-paced environment and adaptable to rapid changesIntermediate to advanced skill level using Excel and proficient in all other Microsoft productsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills
