This is a fully remote position, and you can live in any state.

    Alliant National Title offers:

    • Salary range $65-$75 annual DOE
    • Competitive PTO plus 24 hours of sick leave yearly and Holiday pay, btw your Birthday is considered a Holiday

    About the Role:

    As an Associate Underwriting Counsel, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the areas of real estate and title insurance law. This program will provide you with exposure to various aspects of title insurance, including underwriting, claims, and compliance. Associate will work in partnership with different areas of the Company to gain knowledge in legal research, analysis of risk, policy coverages, and relationship building.

    Responsibilities:

    • Learning Opportunities: Attend training sessions, workshops, meetings, and mentorship to enhance knowledge of underwriting practices and legal considerations.
    • Legal Research: Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards impacting underwriting practices. Provide analysis and guidance on federal and state statutes and regulations, court rulings, opinion letters (in service to underwriting and claims counsel).
    • Documentation Review: Participate in reviewing and analyzing legal documents, agent issues, and claims, related to underwriting and claims.
    • Risk Assessment: Work closely with the underwriting and claims team to assess legal risks associated with potential transactions or claims.
    • Communication: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective communication and understanding of legal aspects in underwriting decisions.
    • Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards in the underwriting process.
    • Support Underwriting Team: Provide support to the underwriting and claims team in various tasks, including data analysis, risk assessment, and file management.

    Requirements:

    • Must be a third-year student pursuing a J.D. at an accredited law school, or recent graduate of an accredited law school, with a J.D., who has recently taken a bar exam or will soon be taking a bar exam.
    • Proven ability to read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or government documents.
    • Strong written communication skills allowing for the development of reports and correspondence.
    • Experience in effectively presenting information and working closely with underwriting and claims counsel.
    • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. This includes interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite.
