    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Director of Planned Giving.

    In this role, the successful candidate In collaboration with the Senior Director (SD), the Associate Director is a member of the Planned Giving team with responsibility for identifying and cultivating relationships with grateful patients, key volunteers and friends of NYU Langone Health (NYULH). The Associate Director will work directly with prospects and donors interested in including NYULH in their estate plans, as well as personally or with colleagues where a hybrid gift (i.e., one where current assets and a deferred gift component are combined). The position involves working with financial advisors and trust and estate attorneys to manage matured or terminated gifts. The Associate Director promotes and emphasizes the priority needs of the institution when exploring deferred gift options with prospects and donors.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Maintain a robust portfolio of planned gift prospects and donors. Responsibilities will include identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and current donors capable of making significant major and planned gifts.
    • Engage and coordinate with the Prospect Research Management & Strategy Team to identify new major donor and planned gift prospects from patient databases and other relevant sources.
    • Work with the SD, planned giving colleagues, principal and major gift officers, and other senior Development staff to develop and execute appropriate solicitation strategies for potential gift planning donors.
    • Prepare and disseminate timely, comprehensive briefings to prepare Medical Center faculty and executive management for prospect/donor meetings, communications, and events.
    • Oversee the effort to properly steward new planned gifts and planned gifts donors by following the protocol outlined to recognize new members of John Revere Society (legacy society), and see that existing members with new gifts receive proper recognition.
    • Design and oversee a calendar of engagement activities (creating personalized communication, birthday/holiday cards, etc.) to maintain meaningful connections with our legacy society members, fortifying those relationships and serving as a point of contact for members.
    • Manage event logistics for stewardship events and small donor meetings including data mining and selection of target audience, mailing list management, attendance tracking, and impact reports
    • Assist with the development of event opportunities for cultivating and stewarding planned gift donors and identifying new prospects. Develop event materials and presentations, as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with various teams to manage internal efforts and third-party vendor contracts for marketing and event initiatives.
    • Conduct an additional number of phone, virtual, and electronic cultivation and stewardship conversations with grateful patients and friends of NYULH who have shown interest in making a gift.
    • Engage supporters in conversations (ask them questions about their lives and interests, provide them with content, information or engagement opportunities) in order to set up face to face meetings with development staff or personally conduct fact to face meeting as appropriate.
    • Provide support to the SD's effort to manage annual correspondence and dissemination of reports and other stewardship activities to life-income plan donors, including but not limited to CRTs and CGAs.
    • Work with the SD to prepare regular reports on gift planning activities and results, analysis of relevant trends, proposed or enacted legislation, etc.
    • Work with the SD to implement periodic survey instruments and other tools used for identifying/gauging potential planned giving prospects as well as connecting with legacy society households which haven't been visited in recent years.
    • Assist with the production of the gift planning newsletter that is regularly sent to donors/prospects. Strategize with planned giving colleagues on the development of a technical newsletter to estate planning professionals.
    • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of NYULH goals, priorities and programs to ensure productive and meaningful relationships for donors and the institution.
    • Work collaboratively with Planned Giving colleagues, as well as with those on the Major Gifts, Donor Stewardship and Experience, Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, Direct Response, Prospect Research and Development Administration teams to provide the most productive engagements for prospective and current donors with NYULH.
    • Document all development activity related to donor and prospect engagement in TRAX.
    • Estate Administration
      • At the direction of the SD, the Associate Director will review wills, estate accountings, trust statements and distributions, and other related legal documents; Corresponds and serves as liaison with attorneys, accountants, executors and family members to help streamline the administration of all trusts and estates, and steward those relationships wherever possible.
      • Confer with Office of the General Counsel and Planned Giving on complicated legal and gift issues.
      • Oversee the estate administration process to ensure that all gifts directed NYULH are received and distributed in accordance with donor's intentions, and acknowledged and stewarded appropriately.
      • Coordinate frequently with the Gift Administration team and works collaboratively with Development leadership to shepherd estate administration to ensure estate gifts are executed according to guidelines.
      • Complete gift transmittal forms and interacts with the Gift Administration team to process and manage estate gifts. Responsible for all correspondence, acknowledgement, and recording of all estate gifts into TRAX database.
      • Assist in preparing reports quantifying matured estate dollars received and expectancies documented for the SD for dissemination to leadership and other fundraisers.
      • Adherence to commonly accepted standards related to fundraising reporting and estate administration.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree is required; Juris Doctorate, Paralegal Certificate, or similar is a plus.
    Minimum of 5-8+ years in the field of fundraising, trust and estate administration, or related experience is required.
    Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with key leaders, high-level volunteers, board members and colleagues.
    Maturity and expertise to work closely with individuals of wealth and a proven track record of soliciting and obtaining major gifts.
    Excellent writing, research, analytical and interpersonal skills.
    Self-motivated, well organized, flexible and results-oriented.
    Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure.
    Ability to work independently and as a team member.
    Works strategically, collaboratively, respectfully, and professionally with colleagues across all divisions and teams within the department. Communicates clearly, shares, listens and recognizes others contributions.
    Possesses the presence, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base.
    Develops and enhances relationships through authenticity, professionalism and trust.
    Facilitates understanding through listening and crafting and delivering messages that meet the needs of different audiences.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    2 years of management experience preferred.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81, $114,660.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
