    Description
    General Purpose and Scope of the position: Serve as Electrical Technician. Perform installation, service, and maintenance of the College's electrical and low voltage system.

    Professionalism includes the following responsibilities:
    Job Knowledge - Includes learning and following correct procedures and the skills needed to maintain and build facilities. Must be able to manage time and exercise good judgment in following instructions.

    Dependability - Includes being on time for work, giving a full day's work, and proper reporting.

    It also includes efficient use of time to complete a job as quickly and thoroughly as possible, following department policies and working safely.

    You are a part of a team, and the efficient operation of the team depends upon the reliability of each member.


    Behavior - Demonstrates positive behavior toward their work, and toward the College including interest in the job, initiative in making suggestions and improving the work.

    Must maintain confidential information, valuables, and safeguard property and equipment.

    Initiative - Exercise good judgment and adapt procedures and working patterns to deal with the unexpected. Any regular or major change in assignment must be discussed with your supervisor. Day-to-day alterations may be made to cope with special circumstances at the judgment of the staff.

    Install, repair, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance for existing facilities and new construction. Must have in-depth knowledge of the National Electric Code and Tippecanoe County electrical requirements. Experience in high to low voltage electrical is critical.

    Staff will regularly work on lighting systems, pursue energy efficient options for the College, and perform terminations of College owned or new purchased equipment.

    A general understanding of BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) is essential in daily work.

    Notifies supervisor when outside services are needed. Provides supervisor feedback regarding current work load demands and scheduling issues. Must be capable of interpreting specifications and scopes of work.

    Must be capable of interpreting project costs as they pertain to assigned work and offering up insight to possible alternatives.

    In winter, operate snowplow to clear snow and ice from the parking lots and shovel snow as necessary.

    The above listed duties and responsibilities will include lifting and physical exertion.


    Guidelines for single person lifting:
    NO REPETITIVE LIFTING OF OBJECTS OVER 50 POUNDS.

    A one-time lift or movement of objects may be necessary, but only using accepted lifting procedures and using extreme caution.

    If repetitive lifting exceeds the guidelines, seek additional assistance.

    Any regular or major change in assignment must be discussed with supervisor. Scheduled work hours and days may vary. Rotates through a preset schedule for building coverage on weekends. May be required to attend training seminars and continuing education courses to increase knowledge within the building maintenance areas.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    High school diploma or GED and a valid Indiana Driver's License required. Knowledge of or experience in electrical maintenance work required.


    Must be able to:
    read; work independently; operate hand/ maintenance tools, operate lawn maintenance equipment


    Preferred Qualifications:
    BICSI certification and fifteen years of experience primarily in electrical maintenance.
