GENERAL DESCRIPTION


Under the direction of the Division Director and the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Records Management Officer (RMO) position performs complex (journey-level) managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of the agency's Records Management Program.

The RMO functions as the records management liaison and compliance officer for TPWD to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

The RMO identifies and compiles program needs, develops and maintains the agency records retention schedule, oversees and maintains the RM Intranet website and database and coordinates the RM unit's financial activities.

The Records Management Officer provides training and technical support to agency staff regarding records management policies and procedures. Advise on and assess the records management needs of agency staff.

Coordinates and monitors agency publication reporting processes, records storage, retrieval and destruction procedures and vendor contracts for the RM unit.

The RMO assists and consults to develop solutions to microfilming, imaging and multi-medium document management. Collaborates with Agency DMO to manage digital assets and to promote information governance and compliance.

This position is responsible for the supervision, evaluation and coordination of records management staff and activities which includes establishing goals and developing schedules.

The RMO coordinates and collaborates with RM staff in the management of the Records Management center and its operations. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in liberal arts, business administration, public administration, information and records management or a closely related field
