All Zildjian products are made in the USA at our cymbal factory in Norwell, MA and drumstick/mallet factory in Newport, ME.
The
Quality Manager will be responsible for managing, communicating, and reinforcing Zildjians commitment to quality and continuous improvement to ensure the continuous production of drumsticks, mallets, and drum accessories are consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals.
The Quality Manager will collaborate with both the manufacturing and management teams to assess, develop, maintain, and report on quality systems, performance, tools, and metrics.
We are seeking a candidate with the proven ability to lead, support, and coach a team operationally to drive continuous improvement and quality systems to support production needs and company strategies.
The ideal candidate will have experience with quality systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.The nature of the position requires a person who can think outside the box, is hands-on, adaptable to change, and can thrive in an evolving work environment.
This is a full-time position that will report directly to the Director of Operations with interface and collaboration with Zildjians Senior Quality Manager to support overall company strategies for Zildjians quality operating system.
Essential Functions:
Champion Lean Six Sigma methodologies using problem solving techniques with team concept to reduce process variation and cost of non-conformances throughout the manufacturing process.
Manage and support a team of Quality Auditors to give clear direction and ensure that products and processes comply with specifications and procedures.
Assess, define, develop, and implement quality inspection checks/tools throughout the manufacturing process that are critical to manufacturing a 1st quality product to reduce waste, rework, and improve accountability.
Define and manage quality procedures and standards for document control, traceability, and continuous improvement.Assist the manufacturing training specialist to develop and refine training documentation and the tools needed to improve production throughout the manufacturing process.
Define and develop an audit program for incoming purchased components and products in WIP to drive continuous improvement with the Vic Firth manufacturing team.
Facilitate and validate internal and external non-conformances to drive continuous improvement throughout manufacturing and supply chain to drive a quality culture.
Facilitate quality meetings and provide updates on any quality related processes, procedures, or issues to the management team to drive improvement and resolution.
Collaborate with Product Marketing, Engineering, Production and Purchasing to ensure that new products are in accordance with customer requirements to include design specification requirements, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Lead and participate in cross functional teams to provide continuous improvement support, deliver new products and problem solve issues utilizing various methodologies such as six sigma, corrective action investigation, DMAIC, control plans, check lists and other quality tools and resources as appropriatePartner with supply chain and 3rd party testing labs to improve and maintain supplier quality requirements and relationships
Support value added engineering activities for internal and external products/processes to drive reduction in costs while sustaining quality requirements.
Assist production in the management and integrity of measurement devices and calibration system
Collect data and report quality metrics monthly to the management team
Requirements
8+ years supervisory experience in Quality Management or a related discipline.
B.S. degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field with equivalent experience; Wood Science Engineering a plus
Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve issues by using judgement that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, or regulations.
Proficient is MS Office applicationsExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Strong ability to collect, analyze, and interpret various types of data information
Must have attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
Practical experience implementing and using lean manufacturing methodologies
Technical writing skills to include quality and operational procedures/ test plans
Knowledge of global regulatory compliance for materials and components a plus
