    Job DescriptionSTAFF ACCOUNTANT
    SITE OF SERVICE:

    Corporate Office, Rockledge, FL.
    FLSA: Salary Exempt

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial information and ensuring accuracy of the general ledger accounts.

    PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience: Four or more years of related experience
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
    • Government contracts accounting experience is a plus.
    GENERAL DUTIES:
    • Thorough understanding of accounting principles.
    • Follows all processing procedures, adheres to policies, and maintains confidentiality.
    • Updates and maintains vendor information.
    • General office support, such as filing and other administrative tasks.
    CORE DUTIES/ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
    • Coordinates invoice approval.
    • Responsible for ensuring correct payment of vendor invoices and accurate expense allocation to proper periods and GL accounts.
    • Prepares journal entries and retains appropriate backup. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles assigned accounts.
    • Reconciles complex balance sheet accounts.
    • Researches and corrects discrepancies with related tasks.
    • Reviews vendor balances due and payment statuses.
    • Works independently to research issues and assists with audit information/document requests, and account analysis.
    • Assists with other accounting tasks, analysis and project responsibilities as assigned.
    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
    Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
