    Food Preparation Workers

    Job Description:

    Job Title: Student Food Service Worker (Line Server, Dishroom, Food Prep, Dining Attendant)

    Reports To: Manager on Duty

    Department: Dining Services

    Job Summary

    Includes a wide variety of Food Service duties, such as, maintaining server areas, serving meals, cleaning service ware, maintaining dining room, food prep and Dishroom, and general cleaning as required. This position works at both dining facilities Seneca and Mustang Alley.

    Essential Functions
    • Ensures food serving lines are stocked, e.g.: napkins, utensils, trays, plates, line beverages full, serving utensils, plate warmers
    • Assists prep cook or cooks with food prep as needed
    • Ensures food items are served at proper temperatures
    • Anticipates needs and communicates these to the service supervisor
    • Receiving, sorting, scraping, and washing soiled service ware
    • Loads, unloads dish machine; sorts clean dish ware
    • Resupplies serving line with clean service ware as needed
    • Assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of the foodservice facility
    • Keeps storage carts and racks clean and in order
    • Complete and thorough cleaning of work area
    • Assist with special function setups, and acts as wait staff for catering functions as needed
    • Equips and maintains beverage area
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Education

    Currently in College; Ability to read and write; Food service experience helpful; Must be responsible and dependable.

    Job Context

    Frequent contact with co-workers, customers, college faculty, and staff.

    Physical Conditions and Demands

    Prolonged standing, bending, and walking; Exposure to slippery surfaces, hot surfaces and materials, temperature extremes, sharp tools, broken china, spilled liquids etc. Exposure to hot water and steam, cleaning solutions and chemicals; Exposure to sharp objects and other kitchen hazards; Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.
